They’ll usually receive your results within one to three days. A doctor may order this more comprehensive testing if they wish to understand more about your liver or kidney function. These include ALP, ALT, AST, and bilirubin. This blood test measures all the factors mentioned in the test above as well as two protein tests, albumin and total protein, as well as four tests of liver function. These results are also typically sent to your doctor within 24 hours. You may be asked to fast for a certain period of time before having your blood drawn. Examples include calcium, glucose, sodium, potassium, carbon dioxide, chloride, blood urea nitrogen, and creatinine. This test measures common electrolytes in the blood as well as other compounds. CBC results are usually available to your doctor within 24 hours. Examples of these results include hematocrit, hemoglobin, red blood cell count, and white blood cell count. This test measures the presence of 10 cell types in the white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. Some of the more common blood tests a doctor may order include: Factors such as dehydration, the experience of the phlebotomist, and the size of your veins can impact how quickly a blood draw can be done.Ĭommon blood tests and how long it takes to get results However, sometimes it may take more time to identify a vein. The process usually takes 5 to 10 minutes. The blood draw process can be very quick if you have veins that are easily visualized and accessed. Sometimes, they’ll place a bandage over the site. Remove the tourniquet and hold gentle pressure on the venipuncture site. You should see blood coming through the needle and into a collection tube or syringe. Insert a small, hollow needle into the vein.Identify a vein and clean the area off with an alcohol wipe.Place a tourniquet (usually a stretchy, rubber band) around a location, usually on your arm.

Wash their hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer and apply gloves.Medical personnel known as phlebotomists most commonly perform blood draws. The procedure involves taking blood from a vein. basically what do I do? I'm hoping to get some insight from people who have tested with Quest Diagnostics before, or people who have managed to pass a drug test with their own urine after smoking pretty recently without tampering/diluting it in any way.A blood draw is also known as a venipuncture. I'm sorry that this post is long and all over the place. I'm about to go buy another at home drug test, but I fear that its still going to be positive, because I wouldn't exactly call the other one a negative, the line was there but it was so super faint. The appointment I made is scheduled for the 18th, hoping that by then maybe I'd be able to pass it on my own, but the person who interviewed me just called me and said that's too far away, she wants me to do it ASAP. Which might work, but I feel like since this place is so adamant, they might be the type to be in the same room as me while I'm giving my sample, or pat me down, or something! My little sister (I am also female if that helps) who has never done any drugs in her life offered to let me use her urine. Apparently its a super high tech lab, and they are pretty confident in their ability to detect if the urine is synthetic and things like that. After already buying it, I go to the quest diagnostics website. On impulse after hearing about it from a friend, I bought some very pricey synthetic urine called Quick Fix. With the second one, the "positive" line was definitely there and I see the faintest little second line, possibly indicating a negative but I'm not sure. The first one I took was definitely positive.

I drank one of those $20 "detox drinks" that my friend told me about, insisting that they were "made for drug tests." I tested myself with one of those at home marijuana drug tests on Monday and did another about a week before that. I don't even know when exactly the last time I smoked was because I decided to quit on my own before I even had the interview, which is the really shitty part, but I know it was at least two weeks ago. They already said I got the job, all they need now is the test. I've never had to take a drug test before. Like the title says, I have to go in for a drug test for a job that I want really bad.
